First Post! 10/02/2011
After suffering all summer, it didn't take much the the WRC vibe to come back this morning. All we needed was a drop in the mercury below 70, lower humidity and a cool breeze. Everyone was all smiles, chattering away, and most ran faster and longer. It doesn't take much to make us happy, just a slightly cooler temperature. We had a large crowd at Panera afterward. Even Coach John P showed up to take a break from his training for a full Ironman distance race in Clermont only three weeks away. I used to think showing up at 6am to run showed dedication. No more. The large contingent training for the NY Marathon and other fall marathons are out there as early as 430am, dodging cars of late night revelers. They are creatures of the pre-dawn dark, trying to beat the heat and putting in the work for great marathons. And, by the way, the celebrity list for NY just grew by one as Dr Ed is in thanks to some late string pulling by our man Matire from NYPD. So fired up was the doctor that he showed up at 530am(Columbian time) to run this morning. I'm predicting sub-3:40 for Dr. Ed. Everyone make predictions for his time to put the pressure on. Congrats to all those who competed and finished the Augusta 70.3 Half-Iron including John Matire, Carly Ray, Chip Corley, Kerry Emery, Laura Kelly, Scott Whittaker, draftee John Moran and some old guy. The run was brutal because of the heat. Some one please sign up John Moran for a full Iron. The Horse Country Ten Miler is on October 23rd; sign up if you haven't already. Mauricio is heavy into the heartrate training. Look out when it all comes together. Rumor has it that Carly may be going vegan...well close to vegan. John Moran recovered from Augusta by stopping at a Golden Corral on the way back. Lorie D's character and mortaliy are under seige because she's been running too much with Drs Ed and Joe.
